Zabaikalsky National Park - is one of the most visited tourist objects on Buryatia. Last year it was attended with 15,200 tourists, this year already 14 thousands visited its area. And ahead is the winter type of tourism - fishing.
Interesting but not vey understandable regularity is observed by the park personnel. The number of tourists is approximately the same annually, but the amount of litter they remained is constantly increasing. This year in the pick period from July 10 through August 15 in only Monakhovo locality a truck of litter was removed daily; at the same time last year it was only twice a week what was enough.
The Park's emblem is Baikal seal. Here is their biggest summer rookery. Different rumors are spread out by the dabblers, while specialists are quite about seal. Last year the ice melted early at Baikal, and seal sheds at the last spring-time icefloes. Therefore, it wasn't in tine with shedding and early than usual appeared in mass at rookery, where began to shed. "Early June, - speaks Vladimir Melnikov, Director of the Park, - it was counted up to 10 th. specimen. The coastal sand and stones were covered with fifty centimeters layer of seal hair. This year everything went optimum".
Scientists from St.-Petersburg established video equipment at rookery, which autonomously transfer signal via satellite to the Museum of Baikal in Listvianka in the Irkutsk oblast. There're few of such installations around the world. The equipment is still under the green-running. After it such a video signal will be accepted at the visit center of the national park opened this year.
This visit center was opened on July 1, but 360 visitors already attended it. Here you could get acquainted with the park features, aboriginal's history, watch photo- and video materials, purchase necessary literature, booklets, cards and maps. One of the shows is dedicated to Peter Korshunkov. It was a talented man. War-veteran, who passed through the crucible of fascist concentration camp, he wrote poems, painted and wood-carved. Figures he noticed in roots and palms of dry trees are decorating the yard of the National Park office, its entrance, gate to isthmus of Svyatoy Nos peninsula and the visit center itself.
The building for the visit center was provided by the professional technical lycee ¹ 20. It's one of the oldest and most beautiful buildings of Ust-Barguzin town. It was erected by merchant Peter Kuper in 1864. Its cornice is laced with wood. The primary school was located here after the October Revolution.
In winter time the environmental groups for scholars and pupils will work in the visit center.
Organization and decoration of the visit center is a merit of Olga Skosyrskaya, Deputy Director of the National park on environmental education and tourism management.
One more event is very significant for the Park. It's a return of cormorant. Fifty years ago the locality was so full of it that the local people collected their eggs with baskets. And the numerous names speak on it. Cape Balnaniy, Isle Baklaniy (cormorant in Russian)... And then it disappeared.
Five years ago the idea to return this big gull to Baikal arose. The eggs were brought, the chicks were breed and grown at the Kulinoe lake hoping that they will be back to the motherland in spring. But the next spring only certain specimens - either migratory or local - were reported. There were thoughts that the experiment wasn't successful. But in a year more 50 of them flew away from Baikal, than 300, 500. This spring more than a thousand of cormorants will left Chivyrkuysky bay only. They appeared in Maloye More straight (Narrow Sea) and other parts of Baikal.
- Possibly, this is a kind of biological cycle; they disappeared due to the lake level increase due to the Irkutsk hydro power plant? - ponders the Director of Zabaikalsky Park.
- But it's pleasant that they started coming back to our National Park.
- And here's another interesting story,- Vladimir goes on. - This autumn bears started to come to people. In Monakhovo the Park personnel came to grab the garbage, and there is a bear mother with a baby, underyearling. Caught an eye at the machines she backed, but didn't go away far. Stopped behind the knoll, she's watching how the garbage is loaded, and waving with leg, supposedly saying: "Keep some". Such cases aren't unique. According to inventory data the bear number in the Park is at the regular level - 100-120 specimens. But this year is poor cropped in nut, even the elfin wood is without cones. There's a lot of berries, but you hardly be fatten with it, so he's coming to damps in search for something".
In general Park is gladdened with the affluence of inhabitants. Passing the Svyatoy Nos the big roe-deer crossed the road, black grouses flew off it. The captain of the National Park' motorboat Oleg Doinikov told that after winter they came to one of the sandy beaches of the island of Chivyrkuysky bay. And it was fully covered with the black grouse dung. They chose it as the roost. And a fox followed the grouses on the ice. The ice melted, and the fox remained. The island has little food for the fox. So, the fox grew bolder so much that at night time it approaches the fire and takes food from tourist's hands.
There's a lot berries this year actually. Floating via channel between Arangatuy lake and Chivyrkuysky bay the captain came closely to the shore and released ladder. He invited me and TV reporter to gather cranberries. And we picked-up almost bucketful of berries being not far from the ladder in some 2-3 meters, at that we gathered not all of it.
Ichthyologist Victor Pliusnin joked: "Oleg, it seems that you earthed up and watered this patch the whole summer".
Big bunches of stone bramble, ash berry, haw, lingberry, bird cherry could be met in forest. And near triangulation point we saw huge honeysuckle bushes. There were no leaves and the berries were drooped as the grape. Just only shiksha (black crow-berry) bunches were staying without berries.
What a beauty in the forest! Dark forest litter is covered with bright yellow aspen leaves. Taiga is in a variety of colours.
The National Park is conserving nature and is developing itself. This year it earned on tourists over two million rubles. The construction of a new office commenced. Well, the village is also developing. Just only hotels are much numbered here than in any other local center. Foreigners prefer to settle in private houses, with local cuisine and Russian bath.
There so many desiring to take a trip on board the motorboat that the turns are queued up. And the pier keeps the whole flotilla of boats. One had turned upside down -it took 30 persons instead of six!!! No injured fortunately.
But the majority prefer walkabout. They reached Zmeevaya bay in two days, where the healing thermal spring is located.
How good is seating in winter in an urban flat to look through the pictures and videos on unforgettable touristic trips.
Happy roads and paths to you!
